August 2008 Issue

The August issue is typically rather light. Many regular gigs take a break and Summer schools are in progress (and therefore not advertising). This presents us with a publishing difficulty for the 8 page A4 format. We have therefore decided to experiment with an A5 format. The August issue consists of 12 pages with approximately 75% of the content of the regular monthly issues If this is successful we may continue to use A5 as the regular format. Although we expect many people will find the printed A5 format more convenient. It does present a dilemma for web issue.  Many people are content to browse the PDF file on line but also many like to print their own copy. Most of these have A4 printers and printing an A5 document on A4 pages is wasteful and tedious. Therefore we have decided to provide two alternative download choices.

The booklet format provides A4 printed pages with page 1 having first and last page of the original document, page 2 the second and penultimate pages etc. If you choose this format it is a simple matter to print double-sided pages which can be bound with a stapler into a booklet just like the printed copy distributed round London.

The sequential format presents individual pages in the order they appear in the booklet. This may be more convenient if you just want to browse through. Remember that PDF provides active pages in the sense that web links and e-mail prompts can be clicked on-line.
